Checking Accounts

Community Banks of Shelby County offers a variety of checking accounts to meet the needs of each our customers.

Regular Checking 

This account is for customers looking for the basic checking account.  Our regular checking account has a minimum opening deposit of $100.00.  With this account, the customer pays for their own checks but there is no per item check charge.  If you maintain a balance of $500.00, there is no monthly service charge; if your balance drops between $400.00 - $499.00, a $1.00 fee is imposed; $300.00-$399.00, a $2.00 fee is imposed; $200.00-$299.00, a $3.00 fee is imposed; $100.00-$199.00, a $4.00 fee is imposed and any balance below $100.00 will be assessed a $5.00 fee for the month.

Senior Citizen / Student Checking

This account is for senior citizens (60 years or above) and students. This account requires a minimum deposit of $100.00 to open, but no minimum balance is required thereafter. There are no monthly service charges associated with this account.

NOW and Money Market Accounts

NOW Account

This account offers unlimited check-writing convenience with no monthly service charge or per item charge when you maintain a minimum balance of $500.00.  You’ll also earn interest on your account and will be eligible for an ATM / Visa Debit Card.  If your account falls below the minimum balance of $500.00 any time during the month, a $5.00 service charge will be imposed.

This account is for customers who write few checks per month, but want to earn more for their money.  With a minimum balance requirement of $2,000.00 and a transaction limitation of 10 checks per month without charge, you earn a higher rate of interest.  If your account falls below the minimum balance of $2,000.00 any time during the month, a $5.00 service charge will be imposed.

 Our Money Market Deposit Account is for customers not looking for check writing capabilities.  With a minimum balance requirement of $2,500.00 and an over-the-counter transaction limitation of 6 withdrawals per month, you will earn a higher interest rate credited monthly.  If your account falls below the minimum balance of $2,500.00 any time during the month, a $5.00 service charge will be imposed.

Club Accounts

Community Banks of Shelby County offers a variety of Lake Club Accounts to fit the different lifestyles and demands of our customers.

For customers who have basic checking needs and struggle with the minimum balance requirements, try our Lake Club account.  With a $100.00 minimum deposit to open a Lake Club account, you will receive many benefits, including your first order of personalized checks, unlimited check writing, $5,000 Accidental Death Insurance, Credit Card Protection, and ATM / Visa Debit Card eligibility.

If your account falls below the $100.00 minimum balance during the month, an $8.00 service charge will be imposed.

If you’re looking for an account with no minimum balance requirement, this account offers many benefits for only $5.00 a month.  With a minimum deposit of $100.00 to open a Lake Club Gold, you will enjoy unlimited free Lake Club Gold checks, no fees for cashier’s checks, money orders and travelers checks, $10,000 Accidental Death Insurance, Advantage Prescription Drug Program, discounts on safe deposit box rent, notary service, photocopy service and more. 

Enjoy all the same benefits of the Lake Club Gold and earn interest on your account for only $5.00 a month membership fee.   Maintain a minimum balance of $500.00 in your account and no service charge will be imposed. 

If you’re 50 years of age, enjoy all the benefits of our Lake Club Gold account for only a $4.00 per month membership fee.

Enjoy all the same benefits of the Lake Club 50 Gold and earn interest on your account for a $4.00 monthly membership fee.  Maintain a minimum balance of $500.00 in your account and no service charge will be imposed.

Our Preferred Club is reserved for employees of International Paper, Inc. and the community school employees of Shelbyville, Cowden-Herrick and Windsor.  There is no minimum balance required and no service charges will be assessed.  Our Preferred Club offers all the same benefits as the Lake Club Gold with no monthly membership fee.

Our Express Club is offered to our customers at least 60 years of age.  Our Express Club is very similar to our NOW Account with a minimum balance of $200.00 (as opposed to $500.00).  This account also offers no charge for American Express Travelers Cheques and no charge for money orders.
